USCIS updated their processing times across the board for most of the visa types and green card related petitions at the end of last week. The processing times for some of the forms went up and the processing times for some of them went down. These are due to the COVID-19 effects. In this article, we will summarize the key changes in processing times related to H1B, H4, I-140, I-485, EAD and similar forms.
USCIS H1B Visa Processing times August 2020
- The H1B Processing times in California, Vermont and Nebraska Service Centers did not change from July, they are still between 2 to 4 months.
- The processing times in Texas Service center reduced by 15 days and now it ranges between 4 months to 6 months.

USCIS H4 Visa Processing times August 2020
The processing times for H4 Visa COS and Extensions changed like below
- H4 COS went up by 45 days at California Service Center (CSC) and it is now taking anywhere from 14 months to 18 months
- H4 Extensions at CSC went up a lot from 2 to 4.5 months to 14 to 18 months.
- Both COS, Extensions went down at Nebraska Service Center (NSC) by 30 days and it is now taking between 3.5 months to 5.5 months.
- No Changes at Texas Service Center – currently at 6 to 8 months
- No changes at Vermont Service Center – currently at 5.5 to 7.5 months

USCIS H4 EAD, L2 EAD processing times August 2020
The processing times for H4 EAD, L2 EAD changed like below
- They went up by 30 days at California Service Center (CSC) and it is now taking anywhere from 10 months to 13 months
- They went down at Nebraska Service Center (NSC) by 15 days and it is now taking between 4 months to 6 months.
- No Changes at Texas Service Center – currently at 1.5 to 5 months
- No changes at Vermont Service Center – currently at 3 to 5 months
- Wend down slightly by 15 days at Potomac – currently at 2.5 to 5 months.

USCIS I-140 Processing times August 2020
The processing times for I-140 Green Card Applications changed like below
- All of the categories of Employment based EB1, EB2, EB3 went up by 30 days at Nebraska Service Center (NSC) and it is now taking anywhere from 5 months to 7 months for most of them
- No Changes at Texas Service Center for all EB1, EB2, EB3. They all are the same as before. They are different for each of the EB1, EB2, EB3. Check below link below.

USCIS I-485 AOS Processing times August 2020
The processing times for I-485 Adjustment of Status applications changed like below
- They went down by 390 days at California Service Center (CSC), Texas Service center (TSC) and Nebraska Service Centers (NSC). Now, it is taking anywhere from 8.5 months to 23 months.

USCIS EAD with I-485 Pending processing times August 2020
The processing times for EAD with I-485 pending changed like below
- They went up by 15 days at California Service Center (CSC) and it is now taking anywhere from 3.5 months to 5.5 months
- They went up by 930 days at the National Benefits Center (NBC) and it is now taking between 28.5 months to 37 months. Previously it was less than 180 days or 6 months at NBC
- No Changes at Nebraska Service Center – currently at 4 to 6 months
- No changes at Texas Service Center – currently at 1.5 to 5 months
- No changes at Vermont Service Center – currently at 4.5 to 6.5 months
